The Motorcycle Wave

This is to prepare you if you are thinking of buying a motorcycle and get on the road soon. When you buy a motorcycle, you unofficially join an exclusive club. This club has an official wave as well. The first time riding down the road, a fellow motorcyclist gave me the official motorcycle wave. I was so confused. It looked like they were signaling to turn left, but there was no left turn. Then I thought maybe they were pointing to something on the road, a dead raccoon? Sometimes I see people stretching their arms out so far it looks like they want to give me a high five, that’s probably dangerous though. Then I realized that they were simply waving. I felt that if I didn’t acknowledge them and wave, then I was the jerk. Just remember, if you’re pulling in your clutch, then it’s okay to do a head nod, especially at a stop light. It does NOT look very cool if you quickly let go of your clutch, kill the bike, jump forward, and then try to recover with a wave. Keep in mind that if people don’t wave back, they may have just not seen you. Join the club and get a bike!
